We Come up for Air

What year is it? No really, it's been a long time of a lot of sick over here. First Addie, then Katie. I haven't felt the rain on my face for days!! I have Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus memorized!! But we survived, and when I say we I mean I didn't kill my kids. Love 'em. Even when they are puking. Especially when they are whiny and sad!!! They are lovely. :) Rejoice, Katie is feeling a little better today, and by a little I mean that she snarfed down a whole cheeseburger after her doctor's appointment today and ate 20 sick day cookies. Now that's the kind of food that makes kids get better faster. Am I a bad mom? Don't answer that.

Last Night

Last night at 3 am I wake up to Katie puking. Everywhere. Jason and I, like the well-oiled machine that we are, put her in the shower and got everything cleaned up and in the wash in record time. I was tucking a now clean Katie back into bed and she told me, "Mama, I blew up." That is a pretty honest assessment of what happened.

M&M's & Little Sisters

So he agreed to come to Missy's tea party. He told me, "It's not because of the M&M's, I just don't want Katie to be alone." Well at least that thought is in there somewhere even if it's 80-20 M&M's and Katie's welfare. She also invited his dog, because her cupcake dog goes everywhere and needed a playmate.
Lately Jason has been showing Noah all of these old movies he loved as a kid, Tron, Condor Man, and Private Eyes, to name a few. Noah LOVES them. Him and his dad a quite a pair both enjoying their movies immensely.

Katie Makes Me Laugh

There was plenty of sunshine today, but we were stuck inside with a sick little boy. Katie had lots of funny things to say though. Yep some real jems. Starting with this little t-shirt dress I made her. She loved it. She thought the bread guy was "so silly. What is he saying mama?" I told her it said love sandwich. She liked that, but later told me, "I wish my love sandwich didn't have any crust on it."
Later while I was sewing, Katie really wanted to try it. I told her when she was four I would help her make a purse or something. She said, "I want to sew a horse for me and Daddy to ride."
Over lunch she asked me to marry her. I told her I was already married to Daddy. She replied, "me too." Oh the things they say.

Down by the Dock

Everytime you lift up one of the rocks, tons of little crabs scatter. The kids loved it. Evy tried picking them up and she was unafraid of getting pinched. I told Katie, "look, here comes the ferry." She was frantically searching around saying, "where? where?" I suddenly realized she was looking for a FAIRY. The kids wanted to get in the water, but even though the sun was out it's still February.

Our Nightlife

Well we have just a little tiny problem over here these days. It's someone that goes bump in the night. Into our bed. At 3 am. And she's thirsty. And she needs to go potty. But man, we're sooo tired. (You get spoiled with having a couple of years of uninterrupted sleep and it's tough getting woken up. With that said my sister Steph and my sister in law Melissa are thinking, "oh poor you, it must be hard.") Every night we remind Missy not to come into our room and to stay in her bed.

She has just started wanting to say her own prayers without any help from us. She really only says one thing after the starting and the Amen and it's, "please bless us to all stay in our beds tonight." I wish it were working better. Sometimes praying about something is only half the solution.

Be Mine

If you know me, then you know I am not a corny person. I wouldn't normally post a post like this but Jason, it's Valentine's Day and you are my one and only love. I thought I would list for you the top ten in a long list of why I love you like I do
You are a hilarious man who makes me laugh so very often.
You make delicious midnight snacks for us to eat while we watch our shows together.
You are always on my side and you have made me your partner in everything.
You very graciously spend lots of time with my family, which allows me to spend lots of time with them.
You are one handsome man.
You never mind spending Daddy Night with the kids so I can get out alone.
You are such a great father, our children adore you.
You have a way of making me worry-less and enjoy life more.
You make sure this family does our prayers and scripture study, no matter how busy we may be.
You just tend to think of me before yourself, and I love you for it. This is just the smallest part of why I love you. I hope that you will always be my Valentine.

Dad's Little Date

What could be cuter than a daddy-daughter dance? It was the first one for both of them and while they both enjoyed it very much, the little one of them was in heaven. Katie has been talking about this dance for weeks. Before it was time to go I gave her a special bath with her little mermaid bubbles, painted her fingers and toe nails, put on her brand new pink dress and gloves, blew dry her bangs (which she did not like but then declared that her hair "looked like Cinderella") and filled up her little purse. What goes in a three-year-olds purse you might ask: lips (lipgloss), mirror, hair clip, and the number one item she wanted in there: mini marshmellows. A girl's gotta be prepared. She insisted on wearing her "up shoes" which were a little big on her but she made do with them. She looked lovely. Daddy gave her flowers to her utter delight. Jason said she danced the night away, wouldn't sit out a single dance, and even won a door prize (barbie fairytopia DVD). What a great night! Here are some of the funny things she said on the way out the door:
"Daddy's my prince tonight. Not a human, a prince."
"Tonight I'll marry Daddy, and tomorrow it's your turn."

All the Way from Brooklyn

We have been having the best time with my sister and her family. The kids have been loving the time together and I miss my sister so much that I enjoy every minute with her. We could talk for hours, although it's hard with all six of our kids around. I don't mind, her kids are cute and I love getting to play with them. We are very excited for the time soon coming that she won't live so far away on the East Coast. Both my sister and I are photographers so if we are together out with our cameras, no one is safe from being photographed.

Sometimes

Yes, it's true. Sometimes the light is just too good. Sometimes I remember something I wanted to try. Then I make my kids' pose for me. They are wonderful and they do it without much complaining...of course there is nearly always a reward involved.

We Meet at Last

My sis and her family are here from Brooklyn for a little while and she brought a new little someone with her. He is so darling!!! He seemed almost as happy to see me as I was to see him, but maybe that's just because he is such a friendly, happy little guy. So excited to get to spend a couple weeks with Steph and all her sweet kids!!

Jesus Wants Katie for a Sunbeep

My conversation with Katie after church today:
Me: "Let's go get lunch and then it's time for you to take a nap."
Katie: "But Mom...I'm a sunbeep. Sunbeeps don't take naps, we are big girls not babies."

We Play at the Park

Dear Mr. Sunshine,
We really enjoyed seeing you today! It's been too long, we have to get together more often. My kids loved having you there while we played at the park. Hopefully we will see you again soon. Spring is right around the corner so please don't be a stranger.

To Clear Things Up

Well if you've been watching this blog right here you will remember that I posted a picture of Adam spinning around in my desk chair and I titled it Pestering Mom.

Jason told me that wasn't very nice. I really didn't mean anything bad, but what does pester mean exactly. I looked it up:
Pester: to bother persistently with petty annoyances; trouble:
Hold on...I didn't mean that he was annoying or trouble. I just wanted to describe what goes on. It's this:
(chair spinning)
"Mom what are we having for dinner? Do I have to eat it? How much do I have to eat? What are we having for a treat? When can I have a friend over? When can I go to a friend's house? Mom - When will Noah be home? When will Katie wake up? How long till Dad gets back? Can I have a snack? Do marshmellows count as a healthy snack? What about goldfish?" and so on...
Adam, you're cute. I love you and I don't mind your questions. Mostly. I like to have you come sit by me. Turns out you are the antonyms of pester, which are:
DELIGHT, ENTERTAIN
That's you buddy. Who could resist your curious mind and your handsome little face.

One of the Best Parts of My Day

Noah's home!!! I love when Noah gets home, I miss him a lot. He's gone for so long...not home till four. Look how cute he is!! And how darling, he's embrassed for me to be taking these pictures. Noah, don't grow up too fast. At least when the bus pulls away he still lets me hold his hand and walk him home.
