Snow Day

We had a great day on Monday, school was cancelled due to snow! Jason took the boys sledding and they loved it. Then they came home and had a big snowball fight in the backyard. It was a really fun time and it ended by coming inside to mom who had the hot chocolate and cinnamon-sugar muffins waiting, of course.

The Rules a Toddler Lives By

I found this on one of my online boards and I thought it was so funny because it perfectly describes what Katie has been up to for the last little while so in case anyone wanted to know what's new with her here it is:
If it's on, I must turn it off.
If it's off, I must turn it on.
If it's folded, I must unfold it.
If it's high, it must be reached.
If it's shelved, it must be unshelved.
If it's pointed, it must be fun to play with at top speed.
If it has leaves, they must be picked.
If it's plugged, it must be unplugged.
If it's not trash, it must be thrown away.
If it's in the trash, it must be removed, inspected, and thrown on the floor.
If it's closed, it must be opened.
If it doesn't open, it must be screamed at.
If it has drawers, they must be rifled.
If it's a pencil, it must write on the refrigerator, computer monitor, or table.
If it's full, it will be more interesting emptied.
If it's empty, it will be more interesting full.
If it's a pile of dirt, it must be laid upon.
If it's a stroller, it must under no circumstances be ridden in without protest and must be pushed by me instead.
If it has a flat surface, it must be banged upon.
If Mommy's hands are full, I must be carried.
If Mommy is in a hurry and wants to carry me, I must walk alone.
If it's paper, it must be torn.
If it has buttons, they must be pressed.
If the volume is low, it must go high.
If it's your toothbrush, it must be inserted into my mouth.
If it's my toothbrush, it must be inserted into your mouth.
If it has a faucet, it must be turned on at full force.
If it's a phone, I must talk into it, unless there is someone on the other end.
If it's not food, it must be tasted.
If it's food, it must not be tasted.
If it has a tail, I must yank it.
If Mommy wants me to come, I must run away.
If Mommy wants me to go away, I must cling on for dear life.
If it's sticky, it must go in my hair.
If it's bath time, I must run around naked until I'm caught

The Big 3-0

On Thursday I'll be 30. I am excited and can't wait to be a thirty something. The twenties were great, but I think the thirties are gonna be the best yet. I just don't care about every little thing like I used to and I feel like I have more perspective. Believe it or not I am actually more able to just live in the moment which typically is hard for me to do. So goodbye to the follies of youth, ha ha just kidding I am bound to make as many mistakes in this decade as I did in the last one, but this time I don't think I have all the answers, I know I need help!! One thing's for sure I am really looking forward to watching my little ones grow up over the next decade.

New Year's Vacation

We just returned from our annual after Christmas trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house in sunny California! We had a fantastic time being with everyone. All three of Jason's sisters live right in Visalia so we get to see them when we visit which is really great. The boys and Katie had a blast swimming in the pool which Grandma and Grandpa heated up to a cozy 98 degrees just for them. They swam everyday for hours while we were there. We also went to a movie, bowling, and played Wii (since Grandpa and Grandma got one for Christmas). Whenever we go to visit Laura always gets a treasure hunt ready for all the boys to do together. They dress up like pirates and get to follow clues all over the house and outside, even some down by the neighbors or floating in the pool. This time they even got to dig the treasure up from the empty lot next to the house...so fun!! Thanks so much Laura the boys always love it and as Jason said this year you set the bar really high!!

We had our adults only New Year's Eve party with fondue, bunco, and balloon popping for prizes and fortunes. We had a really great time as usual, and truthfully our boys look forward to going to Grandma and Grandpa's house as much as they look forward to Christmas itself! Can't wait for our next visit.
