Back to School

The first day of school finally came. I have been dreading when Noah would be gone at school for the whole day, I am going to miss that kid so much. He is gone from 8:45 am till 3:30!!! Can you believe that my little six year old is away from his Mom for that long every day?? Sad but true. I keep checking the clock to see how much longer until I need to pick him up, it just seems to be forever. Not to mention Addie's complete boredom without Noah and I think even though Katie can't say it, she misses him too.
Jason teases me that Noah is my "motherboy" what else can I say but that he is so sweet, helpful, and fun that I do love to have him around. When I picked him up from his first day of school yesterday he had a great time although he told me he was exhausted. Jeez, me too kid from thinking about how everything was going for you all day. Jason gave him a father's blessing before school started and when he was praying for him to be protected, choose the right, and know how much he is loved all I could do the whole time was silently pray right along with him; bless this boy!!! Is it time to pick him up yet?

Cougar Country

We just returned from another weekend away, this time to Utah for the blessing of little Beckham Pace! Jason and I don 't get to Utah very often so we were excited to go and visit BYU and all our old hangouts from college. We love eating at our favorite places (Training Table, Einstein's Bagels, Pier 49 Pizza, SconeCutters, and many more!) It's hard to fit all that food into one weekend, but believe me when I tell you we tried, (hello five pounds!)

We went to BYU on Friday and though it was more crowed then we had hoped, due to Education week, it was still fun to be there. We got the kids the requisite BYU tee-shirts and tried to impress in their minds how much fun they would have if they went to college there!!! (You can't start too young!)
On Saturday we went to Park City to watch Uncles Mike, Nathan, and Aunt Mandy in a triathlon. Jason and Noah rode the Alpine Coaster which Noah LOVED!!! He loves the thrills, he was begging to go again. We got to see Jason's Grandmas, Ruth and Frankie, and his Grandpa Keith and it was very fun for the kids to get to see them and spend time together.

Sunday was Beckham's blessing and Mike did a great job. What a darling little family the three of them make! Our flight home on Sunday night was very turbulent, I was nervous and Jason was reassuring, his usual role in our relationship. He really keeps me from being too crazy, just moderately so. Now we are back for a while and I have sooo much to get done, not to mention Noah starts school on Thursday.

Walking on Sunshine

We just returned from a visit to sunny California to see Grandma and Grandpa. We had a really great time and loved being with the family, and basking in the sunshine. We were beginning to forget what summer felt like!

The boys did tons of swimming in the pool, racing around on the scooters, playing on the swingset, and no trip to Grandma's house would be complete without a pirate treasure hunt, courtesy of Grandma. She really outdid herself this time with underwater clues!

We mini golfed, BBQ'ed, and just had a very fun time. Katie loved the water and was so excited to be in the pool, it was hard to get her out once she was in. Noah and his cousin Nathan had a blast playing together. We got to see Aunt Mandy's new apartment, what a great decorator she is! She gets more lovely everytime we see her!

All this to say thank you Laura and Lloyd for such a great visit! The kids had so much fun and so did Jason and I! We miss you already!

I Love Not Camping!!

Last weekend we took a trip up to the Ape Caves at Mt. St. Helens. They are underground caves made by the lava flowing when the mountain erupted. If you have been reading my blog then you already know about Noah's volcano and lava obession so you can imagine what a hit this trip was with him.
We went with a bunch of our friends and had a really great time. We spent the night Friday and then hiked through the cave on Saturday. Yes I actually camped out Friday night, despite the strict no camping rule that I try to live by. I have now renewed that sentiment and at 4:00 am Saturday remembered why the rule is in place. Here is the series of unfortunate events:
  • 1:00am Finished laughing with friends and campfire goes out!
  • 1:00-2:30am Shivering from cold (so so cold out)

  • 2:30-4:00am Noah gets into my sleeping bag and snores 1 inch from my ear

  • 4:00am Strange animal prowling around our tent, have a panic attack that it might be a bear! (Otherwise known as the 4am crazies)

  • 4:15am Move to the car to try to sleep

  • 6:30am Give up and get up

Next time I'm sleeping in the back of the car. But we really had so much fun. The boys loved crawling through the smaller tunnels and caves and running around with their friends. We loved the main cave and loved hiking over the giant rock piles. Addie enjoyed the experience more when it was over. Jason had to carry him most of the three hour hike through the cave but when we got to the other side he stopped crying long enough to say: "That was fun!" I couldn't agree more!!!

Little bitty pretty one!

On Saturday Katy will be 10 months old! It's hard to believe that her first year is going by so fast. I am not sure if you can see, but check out the barrette in her hair. This is big news--her hair is coming in very nicely and is a lovely dark brown color. She is so darling with her big blue eyes framed by long lashes. I know, I'm a little biased, but dang she's cute.
She still doesn't have any teeth and isn't crawling yet. My ped says nothing to worry about, (he doesn't know me very well!), every baby develops at their own pace. (Pace--Hee Hee). Well she is just content to sit and clap and smile at the boys antics, so I will let her be her own little Pace, and move at her own pace and really try not to worry. The experts say that there is no correlation between early physical development and intelligence, but certainly the most intelligent babies take their time walking because, come on you have the rest of your life to do it!!! So what do you all think about a little late crawling? Any reassuring stories or helpful tips? I'm sure I will be teasing her about this when she is older.

Take me out to the Ball Game!

We went to LDS night at Mariners Stadium on Tuesday night and had a great time! As you can see from this picture Addie liked it better than any of us, maybe even as much as his daddy, but I think it was more for the treats than the baseball. Cotton candy, yum! Buy him some peanuts and crackerjacks, he doesn't care if he ever gets back....really I don't think he wanted to come back. The whole time we were walking back to the car he was making Jason promise to take him to another game soon. His daddy was delighted, another baseball fan is born! Katy was decked out in her pink mariners fan gear-- personally I think she is their cutest little fan! Here is our conversation on the ride home.

Jason: So how many home runs did you guys see?

Noah: I saw one.

Addie: I saw billions.

Me: I didn't see any.

Addie: Mommy when we get home I'm gonna tackle you!

Me: Alright!!! I saw some.

When we got home there wasn't any tackling though, of course all three little fans were asleep in their car seats!
