Sunny Afternoons

We have been enjoying a wonderful February. The weather has been so great. It's fantastic!!! Just yesterday after school we went with some friends down to the beach to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. The kids loved playing in the rocks, Noah making a rock collection, Missy just throwing rocks into the ocean and Addie doing everything in between. Everytime the train would roll by all the kids would be up there on the bridge watching it go by, at the end even Addie went up there-- although he did plug his ears. Playmates

This is Katie's first little girlfriend. Her name is Emma and she is my girlfriend's daughter. Katie loves her and is always so excited to see her. Emma is about a year older than Katie, but they are still a pretty good match. They are so cute to watch together, they love to dress-up, and as you can see from these pictures Emma loves pink sunglasses too!!

Rose Colored Glasses

Well Addie is feeling a little bit better, although he claims that all the food I bring him to eat is rotten. The jello is rotten, the oatmeal, everything. Poor little guy, his throat must still be pretty yucky. Katie is beside herself that all the attention is focused somewhere else, not to mention her biggest fan, Addie, is ignoring her or is downright stern with her. She has been putting on the tantrums to compensate and get some attention back her way. Here I document a favorite tantrum of hers- The pink glasses tantrum. Here it goes:
Well hey, here's my pink glasses. I love these.

On you go. Wait they just won't stay on.

Get on!!! Stay on my head!!! Arrghhhhhhh!!

This is the face of frustration & yelling. At this I put her glasses on for her.

There really has to be a better way. Sigh.........
**there is an identical tantrum titled The Pink Headband

Laying Low

Addie had his tonsils & adenoids removed yesterday. Having surgery performed on your child is always scary, but everything went really well & very quickly thanks to our great doctor. Addie was super brave going into surgery. He just headed right in with the nurse without any hesitation. On the way to the surgery center that morning, Addie sensed my mood & asked "what's wrong Mom?" I told him I was just a little nervous for his "ice cream schedule" as we have been calling it. He said, "don't worry mom I'm gonna be fine." He is fine, but definitely not feeling great today. It breaks my heart, but I know he'll be back to his old self before too long. Jason has been superdad, thank goodness he is able to make Addie take his medicines. Addie cries about it every four hours & I just don't have the heart for it. Jason is always able to be cool & calm, but also strong & comforting. Addie has had many well-wishers who have brought lots of fun things for him to play with when he feels more up to it. We are so grateful everything went so well and we are thrilled that having this surgery done is going to help Addie with his sleep issues. For now we are just going to hang out here with the Popsicles & lay low for awhile.

Hello Sunshine

Today we had a beautiful day!! As you can see from the photo it was gorgeous out and we could feel the sun on our faces, which was great considering it's only February. We have had great weather, cold but not rainy. We scouted a new park with a duck pond and a log bridge over a little brook. We had a great day and the kids loved being out, and would even pose for a few pictures!!! We love lazy Saturdays.

What the kids are listening to these days

You might, if you're me, wonder to yourself, "what exactly does an eight year old boy put on his ipod shuffle?" Now is your chance to find out. Here is are some of the songs on Noah's play list, just so I don't forget to tease him about it when he's older.

  • lots of video game songs: Mario, Zelda, mega man

  • sponge bob songs: best day ever, ripped pants, doing the sponge

  • hamster dance song

  • Crazy frog doing Axel F

  • They might be Giants: letters & numbers songs

  • Scooby Doo

  • Ghost busters

  • I like to move it

  • And lastly, wait for it.........peanut butter jelly time!

Silver Lining

Addie is getting a tonsillectomy in about a week and a half. When Jason told him about it after his trip to the ENT, he mostly highlighted the fact that he would get to have all the Popsicles & ice cream he could eat for two weeks!!!! Today I picked him up from playing at a friend's house and he could see I had been grocery shopping. He asked me, very seriously, "Mom, did you get the Popsicles I need for my ice cream schedule?"
